Wifeys & Gentlemen,
I’m sure you all are about sick of me now, but life has been a struggle this week!
I can’t make this stuff up!
After being sick last week, I am now fighting a really nasty cold that just started a couple days ago and the combined fatigue has been so extreme that it’s put a major slow-down on my abilities to get anything done.
Seriously, ya’ll. Even the basics like showering or eating food have become my Everest! I kid you not.
That sounds dramatic, but again, I am so serious. Deadass serious. 🤣
However, since it’s Super Bowl Sunday and I have the house to myself for a while (hubby is at a party with his bestie and the pup), I wanted to make sure that I got this post up and running before falling back into a medicated stupor for the rest of my day…& night. 😩
This year, I want to make sure I take time out to let you know all the things I’m grateful for each month! Some things will be superficial, some funny, others will have deeper meaning that you may or may not understand. The point is, I want us all to start a trend of reflecting on the little things that have really ‘saved’ us; whether it’s saving time, emotional turmoil, or just providing general comfort and joy.
I wanted this to be a video, and next month…even if I look like death, it’s happening!
Today, we’ll take this journey through pictures and words.
Here’s my January Gratitude List (in no particular order):
My husband, Mr.B and our sweet puppy-girl, Grace Jones. They have been so helpful, kind, and comforting through my toughest days, and my house would not be a home without them in it. ❤
Canada Dry ginger ale and the ‘medicine ball’ from Starbucks. Not only do they taste amazing, but they really do help with my cold symptoms and upset stomach. I find ginger ale works better for me than ginger tea and Canada Dry is my brand of choice!
Canvas Beauty growth Serum: I just started using this product and can honestly say I’ve seen some nice results! I am trying to grow my natural hair out this year so I don’t have to spend so much money on wigs and other protective styles. I purchased their full line (shampoo, conditioner, and deep-conditioner) and I am so excited to see how much it helps.
Keebler Peanut butter sandwich crackers: My appetite has been pretty low these days and when I need a boost of energy, these delicious crackers have come in clutch! They are really light on my tummy and pair great with the aforementioned ginger-ale. 😉
Air Pods: I didn’t want to be one of those people, but the hype is true! I love these things so much. I’m glad I decided to treat myself and buy them because they are so worth it if you’re into that sort of thing. Warning: people will think you’re talking to yourself if you use them while on the phone.
ColourPop Cosmetics: Vegan, Cruelty-Free, and super affordable, I love this brand because they are really good at keeping up with popular make-up trends while offering a huge variety of products. Lately, I have been moving away from heavy, colorful eyeshadow and I decided to purchase a crop of neutral pallets that reflect my emerging style. LOVE THEM!
Lavender bubble bath and epsom salt: while I don’t really care what brand I’m using, lavender has really been my jam lately. It’s hard for me to sleep and relax when I’m sick, sore, and feeling like hell. This combination gives me amazing relief and comfort while also calming down my symptoms and my crazy anxiety. Soak in a warm bath. You won’t regret it.
Essential Oils: Speaking of lavender, lavender and peppermint oil have been soooooooo helpful with both my stress/anxiety and my upset tummy. I either put them into my oil diffuser or apply them directly to certain points on my body *as directed by my acupuncturist.
VapoRub: I use this stuff for EVERYTHING! I put it on my temples when I have a headache. I put it on my chest when it’s congested. I put it on my throat when it’s sore. I put it under my nose to clear my sinuses. I even put it in my hair to stimulate growth (yes, it works, Google it!). This stuff is my crack. My name is Mrs. Renai and I am addicted to VapoRub.
Things Not Pictured:
I am grateful for my parents: My mom for offering words of wisdom when I beat myself for falling behind or when I’m not feeling well enough to do the things I usually do. My dad for being so generous and helping me and Mr.B with our move from thousands of miles away.
I am grateful to my friends for checking up on me and letting me be a party pooper when I have to. They bought me the essential oils and some tea and I’m obsessed with them for it.
I am grateful for my job. They are really flexible and allow me to work from home when I’m under the weather.
I am grateful for Audible for having such amazing audio books for me to listen to when I need to tune out noise at the office.
I am grateful for our new home that we get to move into in less than a week (twice the size of our current space and a GREAT price).
I am grateful for my medical team; therapist, acupuncturist, etc…for doing everything they can to make sure I am healthy and happy: mind, body, and soul.
I am grateful for my ancestors, the universe, my guardian angels 👼🏾, and Lakshmi for their guidance, blessings, unconditional love, and acceptance.
& finally, I am grateful for all of you. Everyone who reads my blog! I started this blog 6 years ago with 10 followers and no direction. I have big goals for this website and I am so humbled by those of you who come back and engage with my content each week. I promise not to disappoint, even when I’m sick. ❤
So tell me wifeys & gents, what were you grateful for in January?
Until Next Time,
